WoW Addons Episode 20

Episode 20, the monster of all episodes, is up and in two versions. iTunes subscribers will get the regular MP4 - iPod version while those of you that'd like to check out a HD version can follow this link to the torrent file for it. If you choose to grab the torrent make sure to continue to seed and upload it to help other viewers check it out.

This show is over 13 minutes of goodness and covers eight mods as well as reviews how to install mods for new comers to the addon scene. Lorim does the install demo and then we get right into the mods. Since this is a review episode we both covered past mods that we felt are useful and still work after the recent patch. Lorim covers Atlas, Advanced Tradeskill Window, Bagnon, and Titan Panel. I cover CT_Mail, AutoProfit, ArcHud, and TradesBar.

Make sure to let us know what you think about the HD version as well as your thoughts on the new style of the show by commenting or even better by e-mailing us or writing up a review in the iTunes directory.

***If you need a bit torrent client we recommend Azureus***

Great episode. I watched the iTunes version but I'm helping with the seeding of the torrent file. Thanks a lot Lumid & Lorim!

I've been a subscriber for quite a few months. I have some suggestions, though I like the premise of the show. 90% of the video is of the hosts _standing_ in the center of the screen doing pretty much nothing and now only 1/4 of the screen is dedicated to showing the actual addon, which is scaled down. Take into account that the video is encoded at 320x240 -- the teeny tiny video of the Addon (the imporant element in the show) is only 160x120 up in the corner, while the rest of the screen is of two static characters. In fact, the characters on the screen are standing so long doing nothing that the female char sits down (gone AFK?). My suggestion is, while you're talking about the mod and what it does, vid capture the mod usage and scale it to fit the entire video frame, since we as viewers want to see the ADDON, not two tiny ghosts standing in the middle of the screen next to an even TINIER window of an addon. If you really must show yourselves alongside the addon, then zoom in on your faces and put them at one side of the frame while the addon takes up the other side (cropped) so at least you have 50/50 % coverage of the software being featured. Even if the addon video is cropped you can use the "video follows mouse focus" feature of most capture software to highlight the area you are describing.

Its nice to show a backdrop of where you're hosting a show but that is only useful as an introduction. After that, you should zoom in on your individual faces because (1) it's more personal, (2) it can save a lot of screen space for more important elements like the actual addon being discussed. This is how typical talk shows are done. They don't spend the entire show zoomed out 28 yards away. Watch a few tv shows where people do interviews and notice how the camera angles and cuts are done. It will help a lot in your presentation.

I hope these suggestions help a little. I like the show but I can't get excited about an addon when it's just a teeny bit of pixels in the corner of the screen next to two unmoving characters seen from far away. Thanks!

You bring up some great points vaemyr and i'd like to thank you for them all. Many of the things you brought out have been mentioned by other viewers and we are certainly taking them into account. I encourage you to tune in still and see how we continue to fine tune the show based on such feedback as this.

Absolutely... the show is very informative and I'm subscribed to every new episode via iTunes. In fact, your show convinced me to try quite a few of the addons you feature (I'm quite partial to Ace2 stuff). I'm amazed that I can have 84 mods/libraries and only be using 32 MB RAM (according to the performance monitor).
